CEIT

CEIT Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Técnicas

Partner description

CEIT is a private multidisciplinary non-profit research centre located in San Sebastian, Spain, with more than 300 employees and an annual budget of 15M€. CEIT consists of six departments covering the activities of Materials, Applied Mechanics, Electronics and Communications, Environmental Engineering, Microelectronics and Microsystems and Biomedical Engineering. In the DIAMOND project, the Department of Environmental Engineering will be involved, whose scientific and technological work is focused on research of wastewater treatment technologies and, particularly, in two major topics: mathematical modelling and real-time control. Lately, CEIT has been involved in 17 FP6 projects, being Coordinator in 3 of them, and 10 FP7projects, Coordinating also 3 of them.

Partner interest in the project

CEIT has a long trajectory in the mathematical modelling of waste and wastewater treatment systems. CEIT is one of the research institutions that, in the last years, has been working more on and is promoting the integrated modelling of these systems. In fact, CEIT is the scientific support centre in Spain of the well known WEST® simulation platform. In addition, in the area of software applications, CEIT has carried out several works in the design and development of customised model-based WWTP optimisation tools. Concerning data acquisition and data management research, CEIT and Spanish SME (MSI) have a close collaboration in the design and experimental validation of advanced data management and monitoring products for waste water treatment plants. As the DIAMOND project covers data management and process modelling of wastewater treatment plants, it matches perfectly with the research interests of CEIT.

Partner role in the project

In the DIAMOND project CEIT participates as an RTD performer and will be responsible for the tasks dealing with the development of some core results of the project: The ADAM Tool, that is, the data management system, and the Advanced Monitoring System. These results will be tested and validated at the WWTP of Mekolalde in Spain. Similarly, CEIT will support Spanish SME (MSI) and End-User (CAG) in the course of the project.
